The Bowflex Max Trainer is a very versatile and functional machine that handles both fitness and performance. It can get you sweating in no time.

This space-savvy trainer is a blend of a cross trainer, a treadmill, and a stepper. It burns tons of calories fast.

In addition, exercising on this machine makes it easier to reach a fat-burning zone. As for the workout, you get a smooth and low-impact operation.

In this article, I will review this machine in-depth and share some of its features that you should know about. I’ll also evaluate this piece of home gym equipment so you get an idea if it’s worth the money.

Let’s get started!

Is the teeter FreeStep worth it?

Resistance

The Bowflex Max Trainer M8 comes with 20 levels of resistance, giving you a wide range of intensities to choose from.

I believe resistance is a combination of magnetic and fan-based. It is pretty standard these days, especially in rowing machines.

The idea is that having the benefits of both at the same time. Magnetic resistance is fantastic because it is constant, regardless of how fast you pedal. Fan-based resistance is excellent because the quicker you pedal, the greater the resistance.

Combining the two provides a constant resistance level at low speeds but a more intense resistance when you're pushing it.

It’s nice to have a range of intensity levels to see the results you get from each one. You can make more modest resistance changes, letting you grow and prosper gradually.

The M8 is one of the best exercise machines available that works smoothly and effectively, and there's enough resistance to do a powerful workout.

Frame

The frame is well-built and durable, and it’s made to last along with sturdy metal, and 3D welded feet. The machine is also easy to move around because it has wheels underneath.

Moving it around doesn't take long; I move the machine from my living room to the garage, which takes about a minute.

The machine can be placed anywhere in your home because it’s compact and lightweight.

The machine feels heavy, but it's somewhat manageable. It has a smooth grip that makes it easy to pull out of the workout area; however, if you're moving it around regularly, you might consider having wheels installed on the bottom.

The machine is sturdy and stable, and the frame is made to last for a few years. So if you’re planning to use this machine long-term, then this might be a good thing. I’ve used my Bowflex Max Trainer M8 for about three years now, and it’s still going strong.

The frame doesn't look out of place in your home gym. It's easy to assemble because you can put it together by following the steps that come with it.

Features of the Bowflex Max Trainer M8

Bowflex JRNY App

The JRNY app is a fitness app from the company Bowflex. The app comes with a few free workouts but requires a subscription ($19.99/month) to access the other features. When you purchase the M8, you get the app free for two months.

The most fabulous feature of the app is AI-guided coaching. The personal trainer can make custom workouts for you based on your prior activities and performance.

In addition, the M8 will automatically adjust your workout to give you a challenge without getting bored.

Workout programs

The Bowflex Max Trainer M8 has seven pre-programmed workouts- 7-minute intervals, 14-minute intervals, 21-minute intervals, calories, fat burn, stairs, and manual.

How much does the teeter LT3 weigh?
Each exercise is consistent with a certain intensity level. You can make adjustments to any of these if you choose.

Workout modes

The M8 also has two other modes: Workout and Manual. In Workout mode, the machine adjusts resistance for you automatically, giving you a challenging workout at the desired intensity level. In Manual mode, you choose the intensity level and duration of each exercise.

Foot Pedals

The M8 comes with large, stable, and comfortable foot pedals. I like the feel of the foot pedals because they’re wide enough for my feet. The straps are easy to adjust, and they fit most users well.

LCD with burn rate display

The Bowflex trainer console is one of the main features of this machine. In addition, it offers a burn rate display, which is the percentage of calories burned per minute.

This feature records calorie burned based on the intensity level you choose for each workout. It's helpful to keep track of what you've lost because it's motivating.

Bluetooth heart rate monitor

The M8 comes with a Bluetooth® heart rate monitor compatible. You can use this to track your heart rate during your workouts.

The heart rate monitor is accurate enough, but you should probably get a chest strap to be on the safe side.

USB charging port

The M8 comes with a convenient USB charging port. So you can charge your phone or tablet with the machine if you want.

Once you make your way to the gym, you can charge whatever devices you have. Just plug your phone in and forget about it during your workout. It's one less thing to worry about when it's time to train hard.

Large, magnetic media rack

The Bowflex Max Trainer M8 comes with a magnetic media rack that is large enough and more impressive than most.

In addition, the screen is conveniently located above the burn rate monitor, so you won't have to block it with your tablet.

4 user profiles

The M8 comes with four user profiles. Each profile will record workouts, adjusted resistance levels, heart rates, and other information.

You can easily switch between these profiles to switch your exercise partners or track the progress of multiple people using this machine.

These are one of the main reasons why I love this machine. You can keep track of all your training sessions without having to write things down on paper all the time.

Water bottle holder and tablet holder

The M8 comes with a handy water bottle holder and a tablet holder. Both of these holders are convenient – I like having my water bottle near me during my workouts.

It's very convenient to place your phone or tablet next to you on the machine for quick access to your music, apps, or media.

Pros:

  • 20 levels of resistance
  • Holds up to 4 different user profiles
  • Max Intelligence workout app with AI
  • Nice dual-mode display screens
  • Can buy a “performance pack” that includes a dedicated Samsung Galaxy Tablet that interfaces with the M8

Cons

  • Monthly subscription of $19.99/month for the app
  • Requires fixed sensors to be installed on the wall for heart rate monitor
  • Does not make portable use during travel easy

Assembly

I believe assembly to be a simple process for most people. The instructions are written with large, easy-to-read print and visuals throughout.

Can you lose weight with Teeter?
Bowflex is helpful and provides a list of what is needed before assembly with all the hardware, including to-scale images of each piece, before the first assembly step.

The frame comes pre-assembled. You will be primarily responsible for fixing the base, pedals, handles, and console.

There are only 11 steps to making, and the constituent tools are included.

Over the whole, assembling the Bowflex Max Trainer M8 will not be too bad. I bet most people can put an M8 together in 1-2 hours, depending on their level of handiness and whether or not they have assistance.

Warranty

The Bowflex Max Trainer M8 comes with the following warranty:

  • Frame: 3 Years
  • Parts: 3 Year
  • Labor: 90 Days
